Ahli Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), Ang Leng Kiat, yang meminta Kerajaan Selangor menghentikan operasi perjudian berlesen di negeri itu. Tindakan yang seharusnya mendapat pujian itu bukan sahaja tidak dialu-alukan, malah parti yang dianggotainya, DAP, akan mengambil tindakan tegas ke atas beliau.
The Edge Daily melaporkan, "stern action will be taken against Ang Leng Kiat".
Menurut Setiausaha Agung DAP, Lim Guan Eng, apa yang diperkatakan oleh Ang itu "bukan polisi DAP, tapi pendapat peribadi. Jadi, ia tiada sebarang kaitan dengan kami".
Menjelaskan cadangannya itu, Ang menegaskan, ia tidak mempunyai sebarang kaitan dengan politik atau keagamaan, tetapi untuk mengatasi masalah sosial yang mempunyai kaitan dengan perjudian.
Jika dibaca kenyataan Ang bersekali dengan kenyataan Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang di atas, adakah kita boleh menyimpulkan DAP tiada sebarang kaitan dengan sebarang usaha untuk mengatasi masalah sosial yang mempunyai kaitan dengan perjudian?
Berita terakhir yang saya dengar, Ang telah pun menarik balik kenyataannya yang menyebabkan para pemimpinnya angin satu badan itu. Seseorang yang menghubungi Ang memberitahu, Ahli Majlis MBSA itu sudah tidak tahan dengan pelbagai tekanan dari para pemimpin DAP ke atasnya.

The Qing officials, although corrupt and Manchu, burnt the British EIC's opium and barred them from trading. We all know what happened after that...The Opium War.
Democracy is overrated and empirical evidence shows they are either dysfunctional or failures in non-Western/Judeo-Christian cultures.
Worse, the populace can't connect to their so-called "universal" ideas of freedom, democracy, liberty and human rights.
Autocracy, despite perceptions shaped by the Western media, is not particularly oppressive. Overly corrupt, incompetent officials are also effectively removed via protests but in another manner.
Elections, esp in non-Western and even Western countries, do not guarantee the most ideal leader and is mostly a trial and error experiment in leadership.
"Renewing contracts" based on performance, meritocracy, is much more stabler, efficient and effective though not perfect too.
The Western laws formulated by Western colonialists seek mostly to protect their interests in business, society and politics.
A poor citizen is just as powerless in democracies with rule of law as they may not be able to afford hefty lawyer fees and their cases may not give enough publicity for lawyers to take them pro bono.
On the other hand, a poor citizen in a society with strong moral codes may get more aid or even in a non-Western judicial system, at least a chance to be heard, and the magistrate can then decide without the technicalities of qualification, etc required in a typical Western court. THough magisrates/officials are also known to be corrupt.
Or even more ideally, the moral law consciously, subconsciously, unconsciously passed down from generations and generations that permeate the hearts, mind and souls of ppl will offer sufficient protection against "injustices".

i guess ang leng kiat is acting more like umar abdul aziz than guan eng would ever be. ang leng kiat sees the troubles gambling has done to the chinese society. why would DAP deny it? are they trying to protect the triad lords that feast on these poor chinese piled in debt?
Jika benar, memang sesuatu yang tidak menghairankan sebab dah aku agak DAP bukannya parti untuk mencorakkan masyarakat masa hadapan yang bersih.
Pegi dah DAP.
Pekara yang mudah, sebab penyakit judi ni teruk sebenarnya beri kesan tak baik kepada institusi keluarga.
Orang yang bangang, bahalol sahaja yang menolong pengusaha kedai kedai perjudian, amat malang sekali sebahagian pemimpin DAP memilih menjadi bahalol dan bangang.
Minta maaf kepada PAS, sebab saya terdidik dan mendidik bercakap yang benar.

it does not hard to tell whether they are(DAP) really following to be Umar abdul Aziz or not because for muslim what ever we do should be in the name of Allah...there's a big difference from them and thats what happened in your posting....constitution or not..it just to suit the needs of their leaders own stomach.. so no wonder if they will not accept muslims law...
FYI to readers:
umar abdul aziz was the imam (leader) of the ummah (citizens). the shield to the citizens. how could guan eng (or any DAP leaders and even MCA) be a shield to the citizens if they are in cahoots with the triad lords? that formula doesn't spell out right, it only spells = trouble to the honest hard working citizens.

Guan Eng selamanya tidak akan jadi Umar kerana dia bukan islam
Lim Guan Eng bercakap menjadi Khalifah Umar sebagai idola.tapi apabila seorang wakil rakyat DAP mengemukakan cadangan untuk diberhentikan serta merta operasi perjudian diseluruh negeri Selangor lain pula tiun Guan Eng dengan mahu mengenakan "tindakan tegas terhadap wakil rakyat tersebut".
nampaknya macam DAP ada something going on je ngan triad :).
Guan Eng kata mahu jadi macam Khalifah Umar tapi bila ada yang buka cadangan minta tutup pusat judi seluruh Selangor lain pulak ceritanya.kata bukan pendirian parti lah.siap nak kena tindakan lagi.adei.cakap tak serupa bikin.
