Bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad mengajak para penyokong Barisan Nasional (BN) menggunakan pilihan raya akan datang untuk membersihkan parti itu khususnya Umno.

Beliau berharap penyokong BN tidak akan mengundi pemimpin yang "korup dan tunggul mati" dalam pilihanraya umum akan datang.

Menjawab soalan pemberita, Dr Mahathir berkata beliau cuba berbuat demikian kerana nampaknya BN tidak mungkin dapat membersihkan dirinya sendiri.

Untuk itu, katanya, jika terdapat calon-calon yang korup dan tidak cekap, maka penyokong BN tidak patut mengundi mereka.

"Inilah cara kita dapat bersihkan... BN dan Umno," Malaysiakini memetik beliau berkata.

Lebih dari itu, ketika ditanya adakah Perdana Menteri boleh dianggap tunggul mati, Dr Mahathir tidak menafikannya. Beliau hanya berkata: "Saya tidak tahu apa pandangan saya, tetapi saya tahu saya mempunyai perbezaan pendapat dengannya".


Khairy Jamaluddin menguasai seluruh kerajaan. Menurut Dr Mahathir:

"Let’s look at what has happened, especially involving, what’s his name... Khairy, the son-in-law.

"Everyone is talking about the son-in-law, (saying) ‘Wow, this is serious. He has power’. It is to the extent that even mentris besar have to ask Khairy for permission to do things.

"But why? (Other than holding a post as Umno Youth deputy chief), he has no position in the government. He can call up mentris besar to give instructions. Where do his powers come from?"

Khairy tidak nafikan Kerajaan Barisan Nasional Terengganu adalah bonekanya:

"...his 31-year-old son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin and businessman friend Patrick Lim to virtually ‘rule’ the state (Terengganu).

Khairy tidak nafikan beliau kaya-raya kerana menguasai Perdana Menteri:

Bekas Setiusaha Politik Dr Mahathir, Mathias Chang, yang mencabar menantu Perdana Menteri, Khairy Jamaluddin dan Timbalan Pengerusi The New Straits Times Press (NSTP), Datuk Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan untuk berdebat bahawa mereka tidak meletakkan Perdana Menteri di bawah kawalan mereka dan mempengaruhi keputusannya.

Mathias juga mencabar Khairy dan Kalimullah mengisytiharkan aset mereka sebelum Abdullah menjadi Perdana Menteri pada Oktober 2003 dan kini.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has apparently burnt his bridges with his hand-picked successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi by calling him to quit his post.

“If we have a prime minister who sold the country, why wait for five years? We have to take early action.

“If he sold the country, there’s no need to wait five years. We must not always say we support the prime minister.”

PM melampau:

"This is the limit ... To surrender your sovereignty to Singapore as if you are scared of them... This is a 'half past six country' with no guts".

Menjual negara kepada Singapura:

“When you sell your country and allow other people to direct you in your country, I think I have limits. To surrender your sovereignty to Singapore as if you are scared does not speak well of the self-respect you have for yourself.

“I am talking about Malaysia’s self respect and sovereignty. This is our country and we are building a bridge in our territory but have to ask the permission of another country.

“Where is the sovereignty?”

He (Dr Mahathir) later told reporters that the government was 'trotting out' economic data that showed a growing economy but 'figures can hide a lot of things'.
